ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - No criminal charges will be filed in the June 2025 death of a Winnebago County jail inmate, according to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. On Jan. 19, Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley released a statement that the death of Ruben Yanez was not caused, recklessly or otherwise, by an employee of the jail.
